EU/Legends character clarification time!

Those who nominated these relationships: are all of the Exile characters in the list below referring to Meetra Surik, The Jedi Exile?

I believe in this case "Jedi Exile" is referring to the player character in Knights of the Old Republic 2.

So, hm, it seems that the default player character in KOTOR2 is female, yet people are specifying "female" and not "male" on some of them. Are we to assume that the non-gendered noms are requests for male or either?

KOTOR2 allows the player to select one's gender, just like every other RPG. The "canonical" version in the EU was declared to be a woman called Meetra Surik, just like KOTOR's Revan was "canonically" a dude. The "canonical" versions were only present in outside material. The games do not present either gender as a default of any sort.

Nonspecifying noms are requests for either, though if you have Character/Female Jedi Exile and Character/The Jedi Exile, I'd suggest changing the latter to Character/Male Jedi Exile for ease of matching. (People who're fine with either request both tags and can match with people who only want to write F!Exile.) You might want to ask the nominators, though.

That's what this post is. AO3 does not let us know who nominated what--all we get is a list of tags to approve or not approve, with no other data associated with it. So we post things here that are iffy or weird or that we can't figure out from Wookieepedia and ask for input. With any luck, the nominator/s will drop by, other than that we have to make our best guess as to what people meant.

I nommed most of the ones specifying Female Jedi Exile. But I'm happy to specify that in my ODs if it's easier to just have the basic "Jedi Exile" in, though there might be other people out there with other feelings about it. There have been exchanges in the past with all sorts of variants in the mix to allow for very fine-grained matching indeed.

FWIW, I quite strongly don't like the Meetra Surik name, because it comes from the "Star Wars: The Old Republic" MMO which came along years later and provided canonical fates for the KotOR characters I am not keen on. Certainly none of my KotOR II PCs have ever been called that. I am fairly confident I'm not alone in feeling this way.

What would your opinion be about splitting them into Male Jedi Exile, Female Jedi Exile, and Meetra Surik for the noms? Do you think it would be better to keep them as MJE and FJE or add a third option of Jedi Exile - No Specified Gender? Is it better to keep it simply as The Jedi Exile with a note that gender will be in the requester's optional details? We don't mind tag set bloat. We'd like to ensure everyone has what they want available when signups come.

If you're OK with tag set bloat then having both Male and Female options seems like the best idea. (There are enough request slots that people shouldn't be too hard done by requesting both versions.) I wouldn't worry about the Meetra thing, though. (I tend to just ignore it if I do get it for a female Jedi Exile, and that is more the sort of thing that can go in ODs. I just wouldn't want that specific name in the tag set in place of the more generic Female Jedi Exile.)

I, also, nommed a lot of Female Jedi Exile ships, and wouldn't be okay with a Male Jedi Exile. I vote for splitting into Male and Female, too, and ignoring the Meetra thing.
