Grab Bag

Sometimes you miss nominations and don't think about asking for your Kazuda Xiono/Jacen Solo tag before the deadline. Sometimes you can't fit all the requests you want into your sign-up. Sometimes you see something you wanted after sign-ups have closed. Sometimes you want to leave an anonymous request for a pairing you have no intention of admitting you ship. Sometimes you want a crossover request that would be outside the bounds of the regular exchange nominations but you know in your heart that Vader/Dobby is the greatest ship of all time and space. Sometimes you pinch hit and would like to throw your hat in the ring to ask for the story of Grogu and Babu Frik's excellent adventures.

This post is for those extra requests, one request per comment, no limit on the number of comments you leave. You can provide as much or as little detail as you want; if you would like your treat to be gifted to you, you should include your AO3 name. Fills to the grab bag can be posted to the regular collection, but should be labeled in the tags or the notes that the fill is for a grab bag request. In cases where the requester has chosen to remain anonymous, these can be gifted to the mod account, or they can be posted without a recipient.

You do not have to have signed up for the exchange to leave a grab bag request.

Darth Maul/Jyn Erso

My foolish self, despite nominating, requesting, and offering a large portion of all the Maul ships in the exchange, forgot to include Darth Maul/Jyn Erso (or &, I'm not picky on this one), which came to me in a beautiful dream (i.e. I thought it would be hella funny).

Listen.

My favorite part of Maul's character is that despite his willingness and ease with violence, he's pretty much always willing to forgo it in favor of (his understanding of) diplomacy; my second favorite part of his character is that while he's desperate for care and connection with others, twisted by his abused as it is, I'm convinced that man can't talk to tradespeople or retail workers. If it doesn't pertain to violence or crime, I'm convinced he can't have a normal conversation. My favorite part of Jyn's character, on the other hand, is that she was raised by a violent insurgent (affectionate) to be competent and ruthless and that almost certainly forked up her sense of both morality and normalcy; my second favorite part of her character is that by the time Rogue One rolls around, she's absolutely determined to just live her life as independently and nonchalantly as she can.

Whether pre-R1 or a post-R1 Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies AU, whether platonic or romantic or a funky mix, I'd love to see Darth Maul, leader of the Shadow Collective, most wanted crime boss in the galaxy, absolutely vibing with Jyn Erso, adoptive daughter and protégé of Saw Guerrera, notorious resistance fighter against the Galactic Empire. Just these two, pure chilling, like a pair of feral cats who occasionally meet up to sit next to each other and purr loudly without making eye-contact.

Pre-R1 could be her doing a job for some part of the Collective, or even a random chance meeting somewhere, and maybe her kyber catches Maul's attention? Either personally or professionally, I can just imagine Jyn being so determined for whatever this Situation(TM) is to not escalate that she's so anxious she loops right back around to full-on High Tides, Good Vibes. She's one with the Force Universe and the Force Universe is with her. And then somehow suddenly she's got this weird, super-intense (boy?)friend who's one of the most powerful people in the galaxy yet also can't really order his own drink at the bar without the interaction going weird somehow.

Post-R1 I imagine would be full-on Hijinks & Shenanigans, honestly. Like if the whole Rogue One crew survives and goes on to keep fighting the Empire, maybe at some point a mission goes sour and they need help/extraction? But nobody else is in the vicinity, or able to help at all, and if they make one (more) wrong move, they're toast. Not to worry, though, Jyn happens to know someone in the area who can help. Yeah, no, don't even worry about it, he can definitely help. Okay, yes, obviously he's an unsavory character and his help will cost something, but hey it beats the alternative! And then, just. Darth Maul, The Shadow, Undesirable Number *checks notes* Three, Maybe?, shows up like a jumpscare like "hey, what's up bestie, thought you were dead this time, I definitely didn't miss you, do you wanna run a criminal empire with me now please? do you need a hand?"

Lol or maybe something completely different! Like I said, I'm not picky, I just thought these two would be a fun combo.

I'm TheAceApples over on AO3 and my other (numerous lol) requests have my DNWs/Likes/Dislikes if you'd like to check them out but no worries if you just wanna do your own thing. Fic and art both welcome, any rating, as well as any other ships (including other Jyn or Maul ships), with any kind of mixing and matching or overlap totally cool. My only request is to not include any kind of infidelity. Jealousy or envy is fine, especially since Maul is definitely a dude who's desperate for care and affection and to be important to someone, but deliberate (or perceived) breaking of a monogamous romantic/sexual relationship is a No Thank You from me. Open relationships, or polyamory, or non-monogamy, that's all good and fun. Or hell maybe Maul and Jyn are just weirdly amiable exes who stayed (became?) friends and he gets to be snotty and judgmental about whoever she's with now, lol, I just feel like there's so much fun to be had with them.
