How does matching work? Are we matched if we have a certain number of requests/offers that match? I didn't think of this until the other day, and I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Thank you.

It is OR matching rather than AND matching. Every tag is considered a relationship, which is why we are using the "Character and None" as a means to request single characters.

If your signup was:
Rey & None
Rex & Anakin
Luke & Leia & Han
Kanan/Hera

Someone offering one or more of those would be matched to write for you. In turn, you offer at least 4 and up to 50 "relationships" even if all the relationships you offer are "Rey & None," "Finn & None," *Hera & None," etc, and you will be matched on one thing you offered. You can request and offer fic, art, or both. You don't have to write or draw what you matched on as long as you write or draw something that fulfills one of your recipient's requests with the minimum requirements (500 words or 500 x 500 pixels not on lined paper).

How does this work when 2 relationships are on the same request? Is it OR by individual relationship, so you are only guaranteed a match who offered one of those, or is it OR by request? (Basically: should I be grouping my relationships in a way that makes sense together/assuming that if I'm matched on that request I am reasonably likely to get both, or is putting 2 relationships on 1 request just a way to double the number of relationships you can ask for?)

Everything is OR matching. If you request "Luke & Leia" and "Luke & Han" in the same request, you have an equal chance of being matched on either as you do with your second request of "Greedo & Han," your third request of "Cassian & Jabba," or your fourth request of "The Force & None." Doubling the number of relationships is simply a way of increasing the number of things you can ask for. The way we've set up matching, the matching software sees no difference between asking for two relationships together or separately.
